Comment: Just found the site and am very interested in making contact with women who served in the Persian Gulf between 11/90 to 7/91 who were exposed to chemical gas. I am in the process of my disability claim with the VA. I was in perfect health before deployed as I was just out of AIT. My PT score was a 296. And prior to joining the ARMY, went to the Dr. once a year and was never sick. It started with pink eye before leaving Saudi. I know all my illnesses are because of my exposure. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, Chronic Sinusitis, Asthma, Malignent Hypertension, Pancreaitis, IBS, have vision problems, a brain lesion, carpel tunnel, Bilateral Thorasic Outlet, Chronic Renal Failure with about 50-60% kidney function. It is progressive and someday will progress to end-stage renal failure, dialysis to needing a kidney transplant. I had a clear pap in 3/90 and in 8/91 it came back with cervical dysplasia. Had it removed and thankfully it has not reaccured. If you or someone you know suffers from the Persian Gulf illness, would like to talk with them. My friends and family are very supportive, but don't really understand what I am going through. Sept. 1th affected me in such away that brought back all the feelings of fear and remembered the how afraid and terrified I really was. My mother kept the letters I wrote her. I didn't talk about my fears, huddling in a corner in MOPP 4, praying that the scud missles wouldn't hit our location. Not knowing if I was going to die that night. Talking with other women who can understand what we went through will help me let go of the fears and anxieties I still have. I hope to hear from someone. I am proud and honored to be a woman veteran. It was an experience that I will never forget or regret. We are a very small percent of the female population and gave me the confidence in myself that I have today.
