Separated Enlistees

I'm 20 and would like to join the Navy. I'm married, but separated. In the state I live in, I have to be separated for one year before I can divorce. The year will be up June, 1999. Does my husband have to know I am joining? Does he have to give his permission by signing papers? What benefits is he entitled to? My recruiter says we can "get around" this. Is he being truthful? Please answer ASAP as I take the ASVAB next week. Thank you for your help.

you can take the asvab long before you even enter the navy... so you don't have to put it down for your information.. i think you only need your husband to sign papers if you share children other than that, it's your life.. not his... as is,, i'm in the delayed entry program so i don't know everything about the marital issues at hand.. but it's stupid that you have to wait a year.
