I am seriously considering joining the Marine Corps.**I am interested in theMarines because of the sense of pride and honor, plus the physical fitness theCorps will bring me.**Also I am interested in the travel oportuinties, plusmany of the job opportunities that the Corps offers.**The only thing that I amworried about is my boyfriend.**See he is already in the Marine Corps (he isNOT the reason I am thinking of joining). He is planning on gettting out intwo years and is very against me joining.**He doesn't want the military to beany part of our lives, once he is out of the Corps.**We have been together for3 years (two of which he has been in the Corps), and if I was to join, wewould have 3-4 more years away from each other.**We are committed to eachother in the sense that we want to get married, but there has been no exchangeof rings.**I made the suggestion that we get married when he gets out of theCorps, but he will not get married if the military is in our lives.**I am only 19, and have had a year of school.**I just am very lost at what Iwant to major in, so I was looking towards the Marines.**Please let me knowwhat you feel I should do.**Thank you for your help.Molly

:Molly--From my own experiences, my opinion is to follow your dreams.**If you want to become a Marine, I don't you should let anyone or anything stand in your way.**I have always wanted to go into the Corps, but never had enough confidence in myself to go for it.**I went to a four-year university.**I quit and transferred to a two year college where I just graduated with a degree.**However, something was still missing.**I turned again to the thought of becoming something I have always wanted to do--become a Marine.Through a lot of patience and determination, I enlisted last Monday and am so happy of my decision.**I had to push aside all of my emotions with a man in my life and finally go forward with something I have always wanted.**I have never been happier with any decision in my entire life.**If this is something you truely want to become in your heart, you will always regret if you didn't try to attempt your dream. If you'd like to chat, feel free to email me.**Semper Fi, Carrie

:Molly, those are all the right reasons to join the Corps.**I will be leaving to go to Parris Island in October.**I joined for all of the reasons that you wrote down.**My advice is to not let anyone stand in your way when it comes to your dreams.**If the love between you and your boyfriend is true then he should not put that stipulation on you.**You are only 19 (I am 20) and there is a possibility that he is not the one for you.**My present relationship has been going on for 5 years now.**We have split because I don't want us to not have the opportunity to date others while I am in.**I love him very much, but I believe that if we are meant to be together then we'll find our way back together.**We both have some growing up to do before we marry anyone.**If joining the Corps is what you truely want then do it!**Don't be someone who looks back 30 years from now and says, "What if?".Semper Fi!Stephanie
