Women for years have been training side by side with the men. If they can train side by side, then they can fight side by side if that is what they wish to do. Women do not have the physical strength that men do, however, women do have endurance! Having been in the military, I know what I am capable of and what I can't handle. Shooting my rifle, I was a sharpshooter in the Army and Expert in the National Guard. Shooting isn't a problem if it means my life or theirs. Survival can force you to do many things that you wouldn't even imagine yourself capable of in peace times. Let's face it guys and gals, women are in physical combat everyday here in the US. It is called physical abuse and some women give as good as they get when forced into it. If women can endure 25 or 30 years of this kind of treatment, I think that they can handle alot, even combat!!! Women have been fighting in combat throughout history as well. Any good historical book will point that out. In Sparta Greece during the Hellenistic period or before, women were soldiers when needed. It just isn't a big topic. We aren't as weak as men may think. We have endured many trials and tribulations throughout history and have succeeded. During the pioneers days, what do you think women did? Stand there and scream when being attacked? No they picked up the rifle and sat next to the husband and shot right along with him to defend the homestead. I personally would not like to see combat, however, I wouldn't shy away from it either. I worked in the Medical field in the Army so I probably wouldn't haven't gotten too close to the combat zone, but I would have served in a MASH unit no doubt and they saw live fire too. They also saw the results of it. Okay I am done, I will stand down from my soapbox now, but please do give serious consideration to what I have said. I think because we are in the age of technology and are supposedly in a civilized society that people forget where women have come from and where we are going.

Thanks.
