For Richard 21 Sep 96-- Right on Richard!! I'd just repeat what your message conveyed. I'm a former WAVE now a mother and grandmother. In looking back I'm glad we weren't allowed in combat. We enlisted to release men for active duty. There may not have been much glory in our service but we did a good job and were proud to serve in whatever way we were instructed. We were happy in our roles as women and I for one had no thoughts about being "equal" with the men. Shoot, like most women of my generation we already knew that we were the superior gender. Our only ambition as civilians was to receive equal pay for equal work. We're still fighting that battle. At least in the service we did receive equal pay.
