Deana:It seems to me that women are the main obstacle to women in combat. I'm all for it as long as they are used in ways that will not interfere with the fighting ability of the services. The best way to do this is to assign them to duty that has high casualties without the physical requirements of combat. That way nobody can say that they didn't do their part. Why is it that you women get so upset whenever you are offered a truly equal position in the armed services? Everybody can't be hotshot pilots and someone has to make up the casualty lists. Why are you so unwilling to do your part?

: OH? Evereybody can be hotshot pilots? And what is your occupation Jigs, if I may ask?The word was CAN'T not can. It seems that today however, if you can get a plane off the ground and return it in two pieces or less, you qualify as a top gun.

Once again you duck the issue! The only reason that I suggested sending women into areas where there will be high casualty figures is to insure that they bear an equal share in combat injuries and deaths. These instances are very often cases where fighting ability will mean very little as in the case of sending in female troops in front of the first wave. By giving her life for her country not only does she insure that a soldier with fighting ability survives but also contributes to womens casualty quota. What could be more fair!!?

I see that you consider women only some kind of sacrificial lambs for combat ? "they should fight where the highest number of casualities "??? oh well , I forgot to mention earlier in my topic I`m for equal standards (might be important) . So , who`s capable of passing the exams that are made for those who`re**considering becoming fighter pilots (and also very hard to pass , maybe a most dificult in military , if you dont know , go and read about it in usaf recruitment , dunno the url , but it`s easy to find), should also be in combat situation (if one is made) , also , not all pilots are "hotshots" ,there are some , but usually , it`s only what`s called propaganda , you see it only in movies . Btw. , I mentioned "Top Gun" only as example for one movie of that kind , real life pilots have nothing to do with movie caracters , and now about most important thing - I really dont know how , where and why you consider women "weak" ? there are weak men and weak women . That`s why admition tests were made . And just one little thing before I finish - where did you see in my message part about women not going to combat ? If one is a soldier - infantry , marines or a pilot , he/she regardles of gender should fight , isnt that what it`s all about ? have a nice day .******D.

I`d like to know what all of you think about female fighter pilots . Did you know that only about 3% of us navy pilots TODAY are women? ONLY 3% !!! I just dont think that there are no females interested in joining . Did you know that before`94 there were no women flying Tomcats and similar planes ? And I wonder if today mixed fighter squadrons exsist ? I`d like to know what you think about this topic . PS: did you know that in some countries (not including Muslim teritories) women don`t even have a right to join military ? It`s only male`s teritory , btw I`d like to see "Top Gun" remake with at least one female pilot hehe . I think it`s idiotic to judge a person by gender and not by possibilities . And , have you noticed in any kind of movie about fighter pilots , the only role females get are roles of good wifes , and they take care of their kids (and "poor" housebands" who "surve proudly to their country") . Well , not all girls want to live that way . Why not change the parts? Dont you think that this kind of propaganda presented is a great way to brainwash not only the adaults , but also kids who grow up believing in non-equality ? I know that there are women who would fly (and fight) much better than many men , but it looks like we`re gonna have to wait at least another 100 years to finally see REAL equality between genders .**

I can tell this thread was started years ago. Let me clarify a few things...females were not allowed to be fighter pilots until 1993...so that's why you never saw them in tomcats. There are height requirements, and a lot of females are under that. Waivers can be granted...but it's done on a case by case basis. Also, the FACT is another challenge for females...that only fighter take. So for those of us who have passed it, we deserve to be here. There is no special treatment in UPT...either you have it, or you don't.
