View Full Version : A matter of choice

The topics I read in this board almost all discuss only a question of women in combat places in military, and a right of choice - should we let those who want to fight to go to front lines in actual war (of course this is simplified version).... Now, maybe this won`t be related to usuall discussion, but I have a question for all of you - what about those who happend to find themselves in some kind of armed conflict (like me who`s living in Belgrade, capitol of Yugoslavia), and things look preety bad now, we`re all waiting to see what NATO decided. I really wonder if soon we`ll see hornets, tornado`s, f-16 and other planes flying above our heads and dropping bombs. And don`t tell me that today there are smart bombs, that only hit their objectives, so if bombing happens, no harm will be done to civilians. I think I know almost all that a civilian can know about guided weapons used in fighter aircraft. Now, my question is - why should we all only think about war as something distant, that only happens so far away from our homes, that happens only to SOMEONE ELSE ? What about people who can`t choose if they want to be in war, becouse war happens in their own country ? Also, is it good to punish people becouse of some politician`s wrong moves, and how can one decide which side is right in some kind of armed conflict that is so far away ? In Yugoslavia, only men serve the army, women are not allowed to have anything to do with military. (maybe they can work in administration), but if it comes to the worse, I think it won`t matter if one`s male or female, if it happens, it won`t matter if one`s a civilian or in military, people will die, and don`t tell me that they can just say - "I`m against the war, or I`m a female, don`t hurt me" , so, it won`t be their choice if they find themselves in the midle of conflict.***************************************** ************************************************** ******* Well, I don`t think I have much more to say now, I`d like to see what you think about these questions, I`ll add something if anyone has some question, I`m really curious to find out your opinion in this.**

I would like to see the NATO force completely destroyed (that means no survivors). It has no right to exist let alone doing what it intends to do! I agree 100% percent with you that it is about to make war on children and your admissions show that you know it too. Never, in history, has there been a clearer admittion of war guilt prior to an atrocity. Someday the peoples of the world will wake up to what is ocurring and you all will account for your actions! *

I don't support anyone or any force, particularly NATO forces, in this matter. NATO has no business in there. The moral highground belongs to the Serbs on this one and NATO killing innocent civilians will only underscore this point. It is time for the U.S. to withdraw from NATO entirely. We no longer have a vested interest in Europe. Modern technology makes it possible for us to build and defend a Fortress America making U.S. intervention in Eurpean affairs a thing of the past. The American people in general seem to feel the same way. I think that American participation in a European war would get all the support that the Vietnam war got regardless of what the media says. The days of the U.S.cavalry coming to the rescue are over!!**
