I'm doing research on women in the military for a MS course of mine. We have finally seen women aviators in combat in Desert Fox, and they performed well. I believe that we should take the next step; that is, to allow females to compete for all positions (infantry, armour, etc). Please let me know if you agree or disagree. Thanks!

Allow me to respond to your message I caught while browsing. First, I'm a resigned Regular Army Major, Infantry, resigned May 1992, DMG out of ROTC Scholarship, CIB, Bronze Star (Gulf War - 1st Bde/3AD) etc.etc. Educated at Master's level. CGSC grad and now a successful exec VP of an information technology company. Thus with creditability established:

Spent a lot of time and tours in the Middle East, peacekeeping and then the Gulf War. Research the Israeli solution and what they determined. Women are capable of being in combat units if you accept the following issues: Israel founded and then reversed the woman in ground combat units (direct role) based upon.

1) Male soldiers had enhanced difficulties dealing with female body bags rather than male soldiers in the bag. War is about emotions, does have a damn than to do about glory, valor, honor, etc. The days of T. Roosevelt are over. 2) Male soldiers were risking their lives and increased male deaths occurred when a female got herself into a firefight and couldn't get out. The male-bravo in affect. 3) Israeli society could not handle their future mothers brought home in body bags.

Good Luck in your Research.
