Quilters.... now thats an interesting idea, Our own history is filled with quiling mamas, who pickup up guns to defend their homes against envading armies and went back to thier quilting. Some women are good at that and enjoy it. Some women are good at Law Enforcement and the such, but please wake up. It isn't about toting a gun, or catching bullits. Being in the service isn't about that, that is just part of the job. 50 years ago women didn't want anything else, then we were pushed out of the house to fill jobs for men who had been called off to fight. Since then women just haven't wanted to go back home. In all fairness, if that hadn't happened, we'd still be home quilting and loving it. maybe. There are many oppotunities in the military that women have been filling since WWI now nearly a century later we ask only to be allowed to envolved totally. Those who gripe about women wanting a free ride, benifits and the such grow up. We want only to serve, we can type, and the such and men have laughed and scoffed saying that we just want to look like we're in the military. Now that many are proving that they can cut it in the units, these same men, want us to stay behind the desks, that that is just as vital and we're serving to our fullest. What happened to the taunts about come out here for awhile and see what being a real soldier is all about. Double standards, dual attitudes. Is it emotional? get a grip, I've seen more men cry in a month away from home than I have ever in my entire life. Is it physical? quite a few women can hack the physical needs of a front line soldier, better even than some of the guys thrown out there, by the way, these fine soldiers that don't really have the physical stregnth are given this simply because they are male. Oh they'll get better, stronger as time goes on. Women just get weaker. Show me the scientific proof of that. I agree that in special forces it would not be a wise idea for women to be in these units. There is scientific fact to back this, it isn't about physical stregnth or mental capabilities but the fact that we have a different scent. The best are sent against the best this trait would be a dead give way. Is this a factor in front line basic GI's, to a degree yes. but not as much as you might think. So far a couple of individuals have based on the postings listed, have formed an opinion that women don't belong in the military, yet many European counties use thier females in all areas and have done just fine. Its a mentality thing, not a bone fide scientific fact that women can't or wouldn't hack it in the military. Do some more research.
