I actually loved Basic Training. At first I was nervous and angry about all the yelling. You WILL get yelled at. But the strange thing is, you actually get USED to it. You hear the TI's scream, but it's no where near as scary as the first day. At first, you'll start to hate most everyone, but you'll see that you really love the other 40 some people you're living with. You learn to work together, and help each other out in times of need. You become each other's cheerleaders or worst enemies! They'll work you like you stole something. I went through the new program called "Warrior Week." It was the most fun I'd had in a long time. I'll NEVER forget the cold showers, meals in the tents, MRE's and Chem warfare classes. Warrior Week is the 5th week. FTX was great too. Since women aren't allowed in combat, it's probably the only taste you'll get. I absolutely loved the experience and realized how awesome I was. You don't smear camo paint on your face and low crawl through the sand with a helmet and pack on your back without coming away feeling a little different. My TI (Sra Kearney) was great. She had to be the coolest TI on earth. I'll never forget her either. As weird as it may sound, you'll be a bit sad to leave your new friends--and even TI's behind! If I had to do it again, I actually would. It is a surrsing experience, and you'll look at things WAY differently when you're through. (whether it be good or bad). It's not Basic you should worry about, it's the bullcrap you have to put up with at your first duty station!
