My mother-in-law and father - in - law were married during the height of World War II. Both of them were officers in the Marines Corps and both of their last names were "Isensee". Maurine Isensee was actually her maiden name. Maurine wrote to the two other "Isensees" listed in the Marines Corps directory. Arthur "Ike" responded, they met in New York City while both were on leave. They weren't related, but with all of those coincidences, Mademoiselle magazine thought they were a very special couple and featured them in their September 1945 issue.
Our family is getting ready to honor them with a 60th wedding anniversary celebration. As you can imagine, this is a very unique and special event that many do not get to celebrate.
My father-in-law explains they were too busy getting ready to go to war (he left 6 days after they were married in New York for the Pacific) to ever have any wedding photos taken.
Is there anyway you could assist us in obtaining a copy of that magazine?
Is there anyone who remembers this special couple or served with them?
Please contact me at the email address below with any information you're able to provide.
Thanks so much for any and all assistance!
