I am about to leave for bootcamp and I have long hair that is all one length... I was wondering what the best way to have my hair would be... should I cut it or keep it long... It is alright to have your hair cut in a bob just below your ears just long enough to tuck behind your ears? What is the best way to do it? Also... does anyone have any boot camp tips especially for women? Thank you for your time!

Lewis, Washington.**She had rather long hairwhen she went in, but she did trim it a couple of inches after she wasthere.**This was voluntary, they do not mandate that you cut your hair.**It just has to be "above the collar", and whatever you use tokeep it up is supposed to be the same color as your own hair.**(Inother words, no "wild" colored hair clips, bands, etc.**I'm not sureabout the bob-thing ... but I will ask her next time she calls.**Goodluck!!**She LOVED basic training ...

I just got back from Ft. mcClellan, AL. I need my knee reconstructed, but I was a chemical operations specialist. I am going to tell you taht you have to bee strong and always keep the faith no matter what you do people are always gonna pnic. I was bay leader of my bay of 64 girls and 8 of them tried to commit suicide. You have to be strong and always look to god my freind. You'll be okay. It's a wise choice going in the army and I wish the best of luck for you. I would cut my hair if I were you because you need something that's going to be easy to take care of. you wont have much time. So just make sure it's above teh collar. you'll be alright...I promise: I am about to leave for bootcamp and I have long hair that is all one length... Thank you for your time!I joined the army with waist long hair, cut it to a bob and there it stayed for the next six years.**It is certainly the most easy, but not always the most flattering in or out of uniform.**As you are on your way to basic and maintenance time is a factor, the bob is a good choice.**Keep it above the bottom edge of your collar and there is little room for argument.**You can always grow it back out when you get to your unit and have more time for fixing it.**Good luck and remember:**The pain can only last so long and then your through it!

Thank you for your time!** Cut it shorter, but not so short that you can't get in a ponytail or it will grow out and be in your eyes constantly.**Half the girls in my company were late or missed on their period, so don't freak and DONT go to the DS until you're TOTALLY sure you have a real problem!**Dont expect the female DS to treat you any better, they will treat you more like sh*t than they do the guys.**The PX will only sell ONE brand of anything, so if you are particular about anything, like sanitary products, bring a suppy of your own! NEVER CRY IN FRONT OF ANY DRILL SERGEANTS!!!**Good luck!****

The hair thing proved to be a constant source of misery for some (most) girls.**I have a super short afro that was perfect for hot weather, 30 second showers, hat hair, PT, gas masks, kevlar, and formation in 3 seconds.**Frankly, most females looked unprofessional with most of the styles.**The french braid with no loose ends looks the best in BDU's and Class A's, everything else for long hair looked sloppy.**Cut it or learn to do a very good braid.**You will not have time to spend messing about with your hair, and you won't have any hair products besides your shampoo and conditioner (which I never had time to use except on Sundays).**Remember, when you work out and it's hot your hair will look like sh*t.**Good luck.**female enlisted.
