My daughter has joined the army & ships out in January of 1999. She isonly 17, but a very bright girl and graduating from HS early. Anyway, Iam very happy that she has chosen this path since we cant afford to sendher to college. My concerns for her are in getting through boot camp. She is also very apprehensive about this, although she looks forward tothe training after. I dont want her to get discouraged with boot camp &want out before she gets to the good stuff. Could you give her someencouragement from those who have already been there?**my daughter'sname is Timberly. You can send e-mail to my personal address at**tlvsdogs@gj.netThank YouTammy

Hello, I am Warrant Officer in the Army Reserves, and I want to let Timberly know, that she made a great choice.**As reservists, we attend active Army basic training, whereby I went through at Ft. Jackson.**Timberely, you should look at basic, as a time to truly get to know yourself,in a very positive light.**Their main objective is to bring you all down to a level, whereby you aren't thinking as an individual, but a becoming a member of a great team.**Initially you will not "like" your drill instructors, but towards the end you will admire them for how they have trained and prepared you for greater things.**They are very competent professionals who WANT YOU TO SUCCEED.**Never forget that.**Everything they do is for a reason.**Basic Training is endurance of one's mind and body.**Once you go through it, you will be amazed how your self confidence and determination to be all you can be will surface.**Everyone is afraid of the "unknown", it's a natural human reaction, and it is normal to feel this about basic training.**Ensure you have friends and family write to you, and rally behind you during training.**Good luck!
