I AM A AFRICAN AMERICAN WITH CHIN LENGTH HAIR, WHICH MEANS ITS TO SHORT FOR A PONYTAIL. ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO KEEP MY HAIR FOR BASIC. A BUZZ CUT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD RIGHT NOW, BUT I'VE HEARD THAT HAIR THATS TOO SHORT CAN MAKE FOR SOME NAME CALLING.

A BUZZ CUT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD RIGHT NOW, BUT I'VE HEARD THAT HAIR THATS TOO SHORT CAN MAKE FOR SOME NAME CALLING.Hi HB, I was trying to remember how my friends wore their hair in basic, and the only thing I can say is that they wore it in a french braid.**Which is how most women hair wear their hair in the military.**My hair was shoulder length when I joined and my african american friends would braid it after they finished braiding theirs.**One girl just about pulled me bald one day.**But that was okay.**I told her to make it tight and boy did she ever.**Anyway, maybe you should play around with it and see how different styles work with a hat.**Remember, you can use bobbypins as long as they match the color of your hair.**Good Luck in basic!

I wouldn't go with braids if I were you...I knew a girl in Basic that had them...they made her cut them all out.**I think that gell would be the best bet.**Just don't make it so your hair would be called &quot;faddish&quot; that is why braid would not fly.**Good Luck!June
