I am currently a pre nursing student in college and I am becoming completely frustrated with the amount of time it is going to take meto actually get to the point where I will be working and gaining experince...real-life experience.**I have been approched and talked to recruters in the past but I am worried about entering before I getmy degree.**What are the chances that I won't be able to get into thenursing program?**Any one out there who recieved there Nursing training in the service vs. ROCT or on their own?**I am very anxious for any advice.Things need to be decided soon.**I am looking for the direction and driveof the millitary but worried about not getting to do what I want to do.thanks for any words of wisdomRebecca OliverFlagstaff, Az

Your concerns are valid.**The best case would be to have your degree and enter the military with some choice of assignment locations.**ROTC graduates had less input into their first assignment than the rest of us.****** If you need financial assistance for school and do well in both ROTC and the nursing program, an active duty slot is almost a guarantee.**All of the ROTC/nursing graduates came on active duty.**The ROTC background gave them a &quot;leg up&quot; on the rest of us because they were already familiar with the language, the uniforms, the physical fitness and the culture.**They were not facing the same &quot;unknown&quot; that we were.**In one year, it was hard to tell who had been ROTC and who had not.**Believe me, even if you decide to wait, the recruiters will still be interested.****I do not regret for a minute being a nurse in the Army!**
