hey, i was wondering if you could help me...anyone. i have fairly long hair, it comes to my shoulder blades. i know that it is considered inappropriate to wear it in a ponytail, but what about braids? and is that only for uniform? would i catch a lot of crap if i wore it like that in basic? just curious, trying to do everything to keep from cutting my hair...it's more of a pain short than long. thanks a lot, alex

Well, a pony tail is a no-no.**They don't look very good either.**You are just now going to basic??**Braids are great they stay in well (French braids are the best)**Or if you have a problem w/ braids I used to pull it in a low pony tail (so your hat goes on) then rubber band the end of your tail, tuck under against your head and secure with bobby pins.**Looks neat, I'm not sure with your length hair if it would make your hair to big looking.**Hope it helps.**Look at the regulations and if you don't have it let me know I can type in a quote from it (AR 670?? Wear and Appearance of the Military Uniform?)** I think that is it I used to carry a copy when I got crap from people about my hair cut.Jen: hey, i was wondering if you could help me...anyone. i have fairly long hair, it comes to my shoulder blades. i know that it is considered inappropriate to wear it in a ponytail, but what about braids? and is that only for uniform? would i catch a lot of crap if i wore it like that in basic? just curious, trying to do everything to keep from cutting my hair...it's more of a pain short than long. thanks a lot, alex
